Dancing with the dolphins (January 2002)index | prev | next

Anthony's shared space with the Roatan Institute for Marine Studies, where a variety of research was done, including some involving dolphins. As such, they had shows during which the dolphins and trainers showed off a few neat tricks.

The dolphins were signalled mainly with a whistle and received a tasty helping of fish after each maneuver.

Here one hops out of the water for a closer look.

They were adept at swimming backwards...

...forwards...

...and upside down.

They did a variety of aerial maneuvers.

Some involving the trainer.

And some involving extremely high altitudes.
