(continuation)
got up early today, bid our new friends farewell and headed to the garden of the sleeping giant where i took a million pictures (actually only about 140, of which 90 made the editing cut) because i knew my mom would be interested in fijian flora.

more plants of some variety or other.

claudia stops to inspect a snail crawling along the leaf of a plant.

said snail in action.

another bird of paradise-like plant, but this one seems to be sprouting a big leaf from the bird's beak. who knew?

a fern unfolding in the morning sun.

one of those really cool fan palms. i wonder if you planted a bunch of those in a line, whether or not they would all fan out in the same direction?

some bamboo. i don't think this is indiginous. i didn't see it anywhere outside the garden.

a plant with berries. probably not tasty.

this i learned later is called cat's whiskers.

a small ground covering plant.
