(continuation)
got up early today, bid our new friends farewell and headed to the garden of the sleeping giant where i took a million pictures (actually only about 140, of which 90 made the editing cut) because i knew my mom would be interested in fijian flora.

i believe that these are called elephant ears for reasons that i'm sure you can guess.

more creepy dangly plants. this one was like aloe in that it was thick and juicy and had little prickly things along one side.

big blades of something or other.

another one of those palm-like trees that has a cool band around the middle.

ray points out a tiny fribbit.

sarah perches on a rock for a bit of a breather.

not that you can see it here, but this pond full of lillies was swaying nicely in the wind.

check out the roots on this tree. we saw other trees like this later during the trip, but none with roots quite this magnificent. ray stands in awe.

the mid-section of our prominently rooted new friend.

let's have another look at those roots.
