An engaging dramatization of the beginning of Tony Blair’s long successful career and the waning relevance of Queen Elizabeth’s. I have no special interest in the English monarchy, but this account was fascinating and felt far more interesting and relevant than the sort of Dangerous Liaisons business that one generally gets in the way of portraits of royalty.

Combines a few wacky game mechanics, a simple story and a whole lot of puns into a package that I couldn’t put down until I had rescued every last slimy little slime. I gave the multiplayer a whirl with the boys and it was pretty fun as well, but they were operating at such sophisticated levels by that time that I had no hope of competing.

A gritty, allegorical tale of a kid striking out on his own and falling in with a band of ruthless but colorful characters who spend most of their time murdering Indians and cashing in their scalps. McCarthy uses such extraordinary language throughout the book, I can’t do better than quote another reviewer who characterizes it as “biblical.”

After almost two years of taking enthusiastic liberties with the themes of the Wild West, we’ve finally shipped Bang! Howdy. Since it’s an online game this doesn’t mean something wonderful like we’re done working on it, just that we have to be more careful when we ship new features as a bunch of people will be annoyed if we break anything. But it is nice to be reminded of why it is that we toil long and hard when we see people playing and enjoying the game.
