“Kumar, what were you doing in the freezer? I don’t know, man, I lose my touch, man.” Wes Anderson isn’t quite in the freezer yet, but he seems headed there. I won’t deny that I was entertained; Bill Murray is a funny guy, Wes knows how to write for Owen Wilson, but what the fuck with all the CG fish? The gags mostly fell flat, the egomaniacal, mid-life crisis having, Jacques Cousteau wannabe didn’t make for a very good framework off which to hang a whole film. Bring back Kumar!

A slapstick narrative on the life of Jesus (nee Joshua) through childhood and adolescece up to the part that everybody’s already heard about, as told by Jesus’s childhood friend Biff. Of course the author just made a bunch of shit up, taking generous liberties with history where it served his purposes, but not aiming to annoy Christians the world wide, more just imagining what life might have been like for the son of God. Biff did get a little annoying at times.

That is some seriously bizarre filmmaking. I was doing fine until we got to the milk. The milk was over the line.
