I haven’t been simultaneously amused and disturbed to this degree since I saw Trekkies. These are not the sex parties I want to go to, but I’m glad to know that there are people carrying the torch of alternative lifestyles even in the less liberal parts of the country.

A gorgeously written tale of the life of a geisha growing up in Japan in the early twentieth century. Given my current study of the Japanese language, I very much enjoyed the glimpse from a peculiar perspective of life in Japan during those topsy-turvy times.

A shining jewel in the rocky landscape of electronic games. There was no doubt in my mind that this game would be anything less than spectacular, and it has exceeded my expectations. The fluidity of the controls, attention to detail in the level design and general flow of game play are unsurpassed in my not insubstantial video gaming experience.

I love Hesse’s story, but the film would have been better it were made by people who knew the first thing about cinematography and acting. It played like a home movie. To be fair, it wasn’t wholly without redeeming value; the scenery was beautiful and parts of the film were pretty funny, though not intended to be so.

The best Ice Cube film I’ve seen since Friday. No shortage of humor; a well chosen cast; even a few tastefully presented life lessons.
